Pro basketball started in 1898, however, there were no superstar players until the 1920's. I'll name a few:

These weren't the first official superstars but they were the superstars of that time.

Right after WW2, the pro league started. Mikan was the first pro superstar coz' before him the league was not as recognized yet as baseball. The NBL (National basketball league) started in 1937, and continued until the NBA began in 1947. There were also leagues in Pennsylvania in 1910s and 20s, but as far as superstars, there's no names I can recognize as well as Mikan's.
the NBA started in 1946. the first superstar was george mikan of the minneapolis lakers. he dominated the 1950s.
