What are some tips for a beginning forward in basketball?

I'm an eighth grade girl and it's my first year playing basketball. Can anyone relate, and give me tips or general rules that helped you?|||Keep your on the ball, and don't get picked off of second base.

Also, if the game goes to a shootout, be sure to watch the five-hole.|||try to get as many rebounds as you can and great defense|||The more practice the better. Ask your coach for tips on what you can work on at home, and what you need to work on.|||defend the shooters anywhere near you and as soon as they release the ball, box out and grab the rebounds.|||Husband is a bbcoach. Use the glass and learn to use both hands. Practice layups- practice, practice, practice|||I say you really gotta stay alert and make good plays. Don't try anything you're not sure you can make. If you can't make a play for your team, pass it to another player and try and get ready in case you get the ball again.

Check out the sources list for a better description on power and small forwards. Practice on your shots and layups. But don't just focus on offense, defense is an important part of the game too. hope this helps.|||some tips that helped me like a few drills for yourself to do is dribble a basketball (obviously) but dont look at all... it was hard for me so i had a poster of brad pitt to look at so i dont look at the ball. and once you get good with your main hand switch to the other hand. then when your good at that dribble and swich hands. and if you want more practice going through your legs, around your back and just practice faking or turning so your fluent.|||dont be a bal hog. that is soo annoying. be nice to everyone on the team and try your hardest to be the best player that you can. .good luck =] i hope you have a great season playing bball.|||Firstly try to keep away from the opposition... (the other players) do this to get the ball. Once you have it try to keep your distance from the opposition but get in close for the shot. Use the backboard too.|||dont mess up|||Jump for rebounds!
